Identifying & Stocking BUTH Tool Holders

Is it BUTH?

1. Pull up the Tool Holder Backup google spreadsheet, take a tool holder and identify whether it has a backup location

a. If it does, place the tool holder on the BUTH rack on the corresponding shelf (solid end mill, collet chuck, face mill, morse taper, etc.)

b. If it doesn’t, place it back on the tool holder cart to be listed

2. Once the rack is full (or at the assigned time), it is time to stock the BUTH

a. You will need the following items:

i. iPad – ask your trainer for access

ii. A pair of calipers

iii. Tickets and a pen – for any notes you might need to make

b. Login to the iPad and open up the Tool Holder Backup google spreadsheet

c. Using the calipers, measure the first tool holder

d. Using the Tool Holder Backup google spreadsheet, find where that tool holder’s BUTH location is

e. Roll the BUTH rack (taking the iPad and calipers with you) to that location

f. Place the tool holder in that location

g. Increase the quantity in that location on the spreadsheet by 1

h. Quickly glance at the remaining tool holders to try and grab ones of the same size to put them away in the same location – this will dramatically reduce the amount of back and forth you will need to do (for example, if you are putting away a 1” solid end mill tool holder, look at the remaining solid end mill tool holders for ones that might be 1”, measure with calipers to confirm, and then put it away in the same location – be sure to increase the quantity in that location on the google spreadsheet)

i. Repeat steps c-h for each tool holder

j. Once the BUTH holders are put away, return the rack to where it goes and give the iPad back to your trainer

3. If there are any tool holders on the “INSPECT” shelf, notify your trainer
