Trash Run Procedure

TRASH RUN

• Empty the red-lidded trash can at the top of the front steps into one of the large West Bay trash cans
• Using the elevator, take the large trash cans down to Bay 1 – along the way:
  • check the green trash can next to the yellow door stairs to see if it needs to be emptied
  • pick up any trash you see
• Turn on Bay 1’s lights and open the Bay 1 roll-up door all the way
• Check any trash cans in Bay 1 as well as the trash can on the outside west wall of the bay area and empty them at the same time
• Completely open the 2 top lids on the dumpster
• If there are any large boxes or tubs that you can see in the trash cans, remove them first and place them open side up so that they can be filled as you dump the trash
• Dump the trash towards the back of the dumpster first – fill in any gaps
• If you spill any trash, pick it up! If there is any trash around the dumpster, pick it up!
• When you are finished dumping the trash, LEAVE THE DUMPSTER LIDS OPEN, put the appropriate trash can back on the outside west wall (if necessary), take the cans back inside Bay 1, and close the roll-up door completely
• Head back to the elevator – make sure to turn off the Bay area lights and any other lights you turned on
• Return the green trash can back to its spot (if necessary), and using the elevator, take the trash cans back up to West Bay
• Go to the breakroom and consolidate (if possible) the trash into one trash can
• Using the front door of the building, take the breakroom trash to the dumpster and dump it in the same fashion as before
• Close the 2 top lids on the dumpster
• Return the trash can(s) to the breakroom – make sure to lock the front door behind you
